Our classes
Van Belle Academy has “the” leading pass rate in The Netherlands. We taste quality wines and give detailed instructions and preparation for exams in all three levels of wine and sake. Our L3 students are prepped in theory, and tasting, with weekly homework, study guides, maps, as well as theory exam prep. You never go in unprepared. Our teachers have worked in all three channels of distribution, HORECA and viticulture. It’s not just theory to us, but practical information for your career. We’ve also worked extensively with our students to place them in internships within winemaking, harvest, as well as business relations. To us, it’s about building a world of wine, that includes everyone.
We taste up to 80 wines (L3), from high-quality producers, and introduce supermarket wines to show quality levels and methods of production. Our instructors all have studied WSET Diploma, as well as traveled and worked within a wide range of wine regions. We are under constant growth individually to keep updated with new wine laws. We foster an environment of growth of knowledge and the wine community.
Let's Start at the Beginning
Are you new to the world of wine? As with learning a new language, wine study starts with basic vocabulary; how to say “hello”, “goodbye”, or ask for the toilet? This qualification is for the very beginner, who only knows white from red, but has no idea about how it’s made, how to taste, or various wine regions of the world. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, gain the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and learn how to pair food and wine.
Take it to the next level
This qualification is for intermediate students who have a serious interest in wine as well as professionals working in the wine and hospitality industries who want to expand their knowledge beyond the basics. This is a six-week course, where we learn about the primary regions of Spain.

Let’s Stick To The Basics
This qualification is intended for people who have little or no prior knowledge of sake. It is designed to provide a sound, but simple introduction to sake. An advanced level qualification for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and winemaking.
Take It All The Way
The WSET Level 3 Award in Sake is designed to give a thorough understanding of the factors that account for the style and quality of sake as well as its commercial importance in the Japanese and export markets. The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of sakes with regard to their quality and commercial value. The qualification provides the in-depth knowledge required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors.
